Trump Urges Cancellation of Netanyahu’s Corruption Trial, Calls It a ‘Witch Hunt’

U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly called for the cancellation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trial, labeling it a politically motivated “witch hunt.” In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump praised Netanyahu as a “great hero” and a “warrior,” citing their shared efforts during recent conflicts with Iran.

Trump expressed outrage upon learning that Netanyahu had been summoned to court again, stating, “Such a WITCH HUNT, for a man who has given so much, is unthinkable to me.” He urged Israel to either cancel the trial or grant Netanyahu a pardon, asserting, “It was the United States of America that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States of America that saves Bibi Netanyahu.”

Netanyahu, who became the first sitting Israeli prime minister to testify in his own criminal trial, faces charges of fraud, breach of trust, and bribery in three separate cases. Allegations include accepting luxury gifts from wealthy benefactors and offering regulatory favors in exchange for positive media coverage. He has denied all charges, claiming they are part of a campaign by a biased legal system and hostile press to end his political career.

The trial, which began in 2020, has faced multiple delays due to regional conflicts, including the war in Gaza and tensions with Lebanon. Cross-examination resumed in June 2025 and is expected to continue for several months.
