Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to enhancing their economic cooperation, focusing on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This decision was solidified during discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. Tokayev emphasized the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s primary strategic partner in Europe and acknowledged the advancements in their bilateral relations over the last three decades.
During his visit, President Tokayev proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to facilitate joint projects and ease the flow of investments between the two nations. The talks underscored the significance of economic collaboration, which was a central theme of Tokayev’s discussions in Germany.
President Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore cooperation in sectors such as transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Key topics included the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, modernizing railway infrastructure, and expanding manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
The discussions also opened avenues for German companies to participate in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan.
