Iran Maintains Position Despite Israeli Election, Criticizes Regional Actions

Iran has asserted that the outcome of Israel’s parliamentary election will not alter its stance towards the country, amid ongoing tensions between the two nations. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran is closely observing the developments leading up to the election, while also criticizing Israel for its actions in West Asia, which he claims escalate violence and perpetuate attacks against Palestinians.

Baghaei dismissed allegations from Israel suggesting that Iran might engage in pre-emptive strikes to influence the election results. He accused Israel of a history of false-flag operations and cautioned against attributing any unverified actions to Iran. The Iranian official emphasized that Iran’s military is prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty and will exercise its right to self-defense amidst regional conflicts.

The backdrop to these statements includes heightened tensions following joint US-Israeli operations against Tehran and other Iranian cities on February 28. In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli and US military facilities and assets in the region.

The ongoing hostility between Tehran and Tel Aviv remains pronounced, with both sides maintaining vigilant security postures due to concerns over potential military escalation. This persistent friction underscores the complexity and volatility of relations between the two countries, irrespective of electoral outcomes in Israel.
