Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer is First in History to Cross 1 Billion Views

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has done something no promotional video in cinema history has done before — it crossed one billion views. Released on March 17, the trailer reached this staggering milestone within four days, as confirmed by WaveMetrix. Holland’s Spider-Man has proven to be not just a fan favorite, but a global cultural force.

The trailer’s first-day viewership of 718.6 million was itself a record. Prior records held by Deadpool & Wolverine at 365 million and Spider-Man: No Way Home at 355.5 million were broken immediately. Grand Theft Auto VI’s 475 million first-day views — perhaps the most impressive single-day trailer performance before this — was also surpassed by a wide margin.

WaveMetrix reported 1.1 billion views in total by Tuesday of that week. The sum is unprecedented in trailer history, and it speaks to the extraordinary loyalty and size of the Spider-Man fanbase worldwide. No comparable milestone had been reached by any trailer in any medium before Brand New Day.

Opening in theatres on July 31, Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. The film is the fourth MCU Spider-Man entry, part of Phase Six, and follows the billion-dollar No Way Home. It will release across India in six languages.

The trailer gave fans a glimpse into Peter Parker’s post-spell life — forgotten, isolated, and fighting alone. Fan reactions were intense and emotional, spawning viral content and affectionate alternate titles. With the most-watched trailer in entertainment history now behind it, Brand New Day faces the world on July 31 ready to claim its place as a Marvel classic.
