China has reinforced its pledge to boost cooperation with Central Asian nations during Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan. Regional collaboration and multilateral efforts were central to the agenda during meetings with Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan’s leaders and foreign ministers.
Discussions highlighted the enhancement of cooperation through platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia mechanism, and the United Nations. China expressed its support for Kyrgyzstan as it prepares to host the upcoming SCO Bishkek Summit, while affirming its commitment to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations agreed on strengthening their coordination to promote regional peace, security, and development.
In conversations with Uzbekistan, China emphasized the significance of progressing on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway project. The talks also explored expanding collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development, underscoring a shared interest in technological advancement.
Meanwhile, China and Tajikistan reiterated their dedication to deepening bilateral ties. Both countries are eager to expand practical cooperation in sectors like energy and regional connectivity, building on a long-term friendship and cooperation treaty signed earlier this year.
The visit highlighted China’s expanding strategic partnership with Central Asia, with a concentrated focus on infrastructure development, trade, technological innovation, and maintaining regional stability. These efforts reflect China’s broader strategy to fortify its influence and foster sustainable development across the region.
