Apple’s Executive Chair Tim Cook Awarded $47 Million Compensation Package

Tim Cook has transitioned from his role as Apple’s chief executive to become the company’s executive chair, with a compensation package valued at approximately $47 million. This includes a $2 million base salary alongside $45 million in shares. Notably, half of Cook’s stock award is contingent upon meeting performance targets, while the rest is set to vest over the next four years.

In his new position as executive chair, Cook will concentrate on Apple’s external affairs, which encompasses the company’s relationships with governments and policymakers, as well as managing ties with essential international markets. This shift comes after Cook’s successful tenure as CEO, during which Apple saw its market value soar to around $4.7 trillion. In 2025, Cook’s compensation as CEO was over $74 million, reflecting his significant contributions to the company’s growth.

Succeeding Cook as CEO is John Ternus, a seasoned Apple executive who previously led the hardware engineering department. Ternus will now take charge of directing Apple’s product strategy and operations. As part of his compensation, Ternus will receive a $3 million base salary and a stock award valued at $55 million, with a substantial portion of this package linked to performance metrics.

The leadership transition marks a strategic shift for Apple as it continues to innovate and expand its global footprint. While Cook focuses on external partnerships and market relationships, Ternus is tasked with driving the company’s product innovation and overall strategic direction, leveraging his extensive experience within Apple.
